Week-End Reflection: Joy Bubbles VI: Out of The Mouths of Babes…

“Joy Bubbles”- Rediscovering Our Childlike Faith:

But Jesus called them[the parents] to Him, saying, Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for to such[as these]belongs the Kingdom of God.

Luke 18:16(AMP)

mouths-of-babes

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.Psalm 8:1-2(NIV)

Straight Talk

There is something very special about being surrounded by an enormous supply of never-ending energy. More often than we realize it, as adults who are privileged to be parents, teachers or mentors of children, even when we come home from a long and exhausting day of running around and dealing with seemingly earth ending events for kids such as when a little one has a melt-down because they can’t find their favorite pencil, or diffusing a potential brawl over who gets to use the computer next,in-between all the whining and tantrums, we have been given the unique pleasure of-well the only way I can describe it is”Re-participation.”

Let me explain. Do you recall the exact moment, or month, or year for that matter, that your brain switched from saying exactly what you thought or felt? For some of us it was very early when our parents taught us to be seen, not heard. For others, it was later on-maybe even when entering middle school when the goal was to fit in and be cool. Being unique and showing your individuality? Not so much. For me it was a combination of these two events. At home I was stifled, at school I was, well, stifled as well, more self-inflicted in nature. Now, for the adults reading this, ask yourself how you think these events shaped the way you communicate in your life today? “Above all, my brothers, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your “Yes” be yes, and your “No,” no, or you will be condemned.” James 5:12(NIV) Now that is what I call straight talk.

We are all unique individuals with different personalities. God made us that way. Yet we place so much stress on ourselves each and everyday-we are trying to hold the world on our shoulders, blazing our own trails toward our futures, when we should be leaning on God more and letting him guide our steps. And just as important, what are we saying as we lead our own lives? Are we giving thanks & praise to God, or to ourselves? Are we engaging in gossip or verbal tactics to show ourselves as superior to another? Are you still trying to “fit-in?”

When you least expect it, your child says “I Love You”, or a student gives you the drawing they’ve been working on all day with their little scribbled name on it. Children speak from the heart, they express themselves from the heart, the way we were and should be telling ourselves to return to being again, from the heart. Participating once again in the energy source of our lives. It costs us nothing, it is never-ending, and should never be stifled. My prayer is that we remember today that at any age, we are always first and foremost children of God, Amen

Can i ask you permission as an ‘out of the mouth of the mouth babes’ in our church magazine- Source. it is an outreach tool for our church and i personally believe that the simplistic manner of presentation of this piece will be very appealling to our audience.

    Thank you.
