“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7-9(NIV)
I can only imagine what Paul was thinking when faced with death. Immediately I would guess fear. However, reading this verse, among the final words He would write, I am given a glimpse as to the satisfaction He experienced at that moment. One of serenity for how He conducted his life while alive on this earth. He was a good and faithful servant of The Lord. These words He wrote seem like a cliche for us readers, until we stop and reflect on actually living out fighting for God,being continuously pursuing good, and being faithful even in the dark and lonely valleys of our life. Paul teaches us by example of a redeemed life we all can have if we would only receive it. Seems so simple and pure.
This world will present many challenges and snares on our “narrow” road. We must be forever vigilant and remember to keep our eyes open-just as Paul’s eyes were finally opened from his blindness when seeing The Lord.
Keep the faith, Amen.
